hello from Miami.
I've been here since Sunday, and I have yet to see a single Soundmachine.
My traveling companion is on a business trip. I am not, I'm on vacation, so I've had the days to myself to do whatever I like. My goal has been merely to relax and take things slooooow. I've been sleeping a lot; it's been nice not having a hungry cat jumping on my head at 7 in the morning. I've also spent a lot of time at the gym and at the pool, which has been wonderful. In between swims, I finished reading Last Call by Tim Powers, and now I'm a good chunk into World War Z by Max Brooks, which I. Am. Loving.
The evenings have consisted mostly of finding a good restaurant in South Beach, stuffing ourselves silly, walking on the beach, and then going back to the hotel and hitting the pool one last time before close.
Some other notable outings :
We went to the Miami Seaquarium and admired the lovely sea creatures. And then ate them at the sushi place in South Beach that Chuck recommended.
I visisted the Lowe Museum at the University of Miami. A smallish museum, but it had a lot of things I liked (Lichtenstein!). What really caught my attention was the pond in the middle of campus with all the flying fish. Neat!
In an hour or so we're off to Key Largo. I'm hoping if it's not too late we can get some snorkeling in.
I fly back tomorrow, and will be spending Memorial Day weekend drinking and eating lots of barbecue with good friends. I'm glad I hit the gym so much this week.
